Here’s a snapshot of the winter woods, in a fun new finish shape! This colorful design has lots of fun elements from nature and a deep seasonal palette. The colorful cast of characters includes a reindeer, fox, hedgehog, chipmunk, squirrel, rabbit, ptarmigan, cardinal, owl and nuthatch. (Once you stitch their matching sides together, the male and female cardinal will meet in the branches.) Once it’s done, you can turn it any way you like so your favorite elements are front and center. And don’t be intimidated by the finishing – we’ll go through everything together. You can stitch it up before class, or just follow along with me (and my lovely assistant Robert) on the day. Then, if you’d like to take more time, you’ll have 30 days to access the video after the Jingle Ball. And I’ll send out some finishing notes for you to have as well.
CLASS OPTIONS: Option 1 - PDF only ($35) Available Worldwide – you will receive the pdf chart and a supplies list. You’ll be able to stitch your piece and bring it to class so we can go through the finishing. There probably won’t be enough time to complete the finishing during class, since there are several elements, but I’ll go through the whole process so you can see it.
This class calls for the following supplies:
  1. A 12 x 26 piece of 32/16 fabric. (If you’d like a different count of fabric, this will change the amount you need.) The design is 300 stitches wide x 102 stitches high, and you won’t need much more than an inch or two of extra fabric around the sides.
  2. Threads – a full list is included in the pdf chart you will receive, along with a list of (approximate) DMC substitutions.
  3. Interfacing for the design
  4. Mat board, batting and some fabric (the model uses Cucumber velveteen from Lady Dot Creates) for the base.
  5. Fill material of your choice. I use a mix of walnut shells and lavender, and sometimes add a bit of polyfill at the top.
  6. A chopstick or pencil to pack your fill material A small craft funnel (if using walnut shells)
  7. An ornament for the top – the model uses wire “berries”, but you could use a decorative button, a “gift” tag, a thread tassel, mini pinecone beads, or anything else your heart desires.
  8. Craft glue or double-sided craft tape A tapestry needle (size depending on your fabric choice)
  9. Fabric and thread scissors
Option 2 – Full Kit ($85) US shipping only – you will receive a printed chart and the supplies needed to stitch both biscornu halves, and to finish them together in class. These kits will be ready to ship by the end of October, so you’ll have time to stitch the design before class if you’d like to.
