Every year when it's time to decorate my Christmas tree, I open the box labeled "Ornaments" with twinkling anticipation, knowing that my home will soon have its holiday centerpiece, ready for my family. It's a childlike thrill to pick up that first sparkling (or hand-stitched) bauble, lifting it ever-so-gently out of the box... and then that dreamy moment comes to a sudden halt when I realize I didn't leave last year's hook on the ornament that I'm holding. Grumble-fumbling through the box, I find a decades-old, wrinkled Zip-loc sandwich bag full of tangled hooks that are not looking forward to being wrestled out of their slumber and put to this season's work.
Introducing: A Merry Pocket! A small, foldable, ribbon-closeable, stitched pocket for all those lazy ornament hooks. Untie that ribbon, unfold your pocket, and softly whisper, "Wake up, ya filthy animals. It's bauble-holding time."
Your PDF-Only class will include:
TWO charts (not just for the pocket pattern, but a full-sized sampler to accompany it!)
Full-color instructions on how I finished my pocket
Your Class Kit will include:
TWO charts (not just the pocket pattern, but a full-sized sampler to accompany it!)
One fat quarter of 36 ct linen for BOTH patterns
Nine full skeins of DMC
Twelve full skeins of overdyed floss
One small felt square
One length of ribbon
One merry tote bag
Your part before class:
Cross stitch your pocket pattern.
My part during class:
I'll have the completed model on hand, but I'll be using scraps to show you step-by-step how I finished it. Please don't throw tomatoes at me.
Your part during class:
If you'd like to use interfacing to give your pocket some umph, please have this ready.
Have an iron nearby and some straight pins.
My pocket will be finished entirely by hand, but you can use your sewing machine if you'd like.
This is a no-pressure, no-perfection-required class, so have fun! You'll have some time after our session to go back and review the recording of class to see anything you may have missed.
