SUMMER HOUSE STITCHE WORKES PRESENTS
CROWNING GLORY
For centuries crowns have been a favorite motif in our stitching arsenal. They have been used to symbolize royalty, aristocracy and different generations in family trees. They also have a religious implication in Christianity as a symbol for Christ.
And last but not least, they have been used as plain old space fillers. What better way to fill in a little gap when your alphabet just doesn’t take up a full line across your linen. Crowning Glory is a celebration of our stitching love of diadems. The main piece of this class is a pin cushion that is finished into a tin crown base. The pincushion is stitched on 32 ct Chocolate Milk linen from Fabrics by Stephanie. (No Aida option available, but this is an Aida friendly design - just switch out the linen for 16 ct. Aida!) And it is stitched with silk floss from Gloriana. Of course, a crown needs to be stitched in luxurious
silk!! To protect your crown, you need a special box. And that is the second part of this fun class. We will cover a box, both exterior and interior with handpressed papers and then line the bottom of the box with a cushion of velveteen from Lady Dot Creates. The perfect resting spot for your crown.
Prestitching is encouraged, but not required.
